“ The results our students have received today are the best ever in the College’s long history. Our students have worked tremendously hard for these record breaking results. They should be extremely proud of their achievements. We are! And we wish each and every one of them every happiness and success in the next stage of their life, whether this is at their university or with their employer of choice . It has been our pleasure and our privilege working with them to help them to realise their ambitions for life after Huddersfield New College.” Angela Williams, Principal.

Class of 2017: Record Breaking Results

In 2017 students secured the best A Level results in the College's recent history, confirming Ofsted's judgement that learner outcomes at the College are 'outstanding.' This is in a year where 16 out of 34 A Levels were the new and more challenging Linear A Levels, decided solely by final exams, with no links to coursework and to AS levels. Some headline results include:

  • 99.6% pass rate for both A Level and Vocational courses.
  • 43% achieving the highly coveted top grades of A* A and B.
  • Overall 63% of our Class of 2017 studying for an advanced level programme achieved A* A and B (or equivalent).
  • Almost 700 students achieved A*, A or Distinction*, Distinction - reflecting how our students are challenged to achieve their full potential.

The news comes following a year of special awards, including being named as number one for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the 2017 National Centre for Diversity Awards and being shortlisted in the TES Sixth Form College of the Year Award. You can read more about our awards here.

Here at the College our focus is upon ensuring each and every student achieves their potential, and secures grades that open doors to Universities and employers of choice. Our student case studies, which share an insight into the difference the HNC experience makes to our young people, will be published shortly.
