A minimum of a Grade 3 in GCSE Maths and one Grade 3 within GCSE Single/ Combined Science. 

This is a nationally recognised qualification. The course will provide you with an introduction to the science industry and related services, enabling you to investigate a range of areas of study.

The teaching for the course will involve a mixture of class teaching, practical work, personal research, group research, discussion and visits to local industries and firms. The Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science is a 60-credit qualification that consists of 3 mandatory units plus optional units that provide for a combined total of 60 credits.

Mandatory units: Unit 1 Chemistry and Our Earth (5 credits); Unit 2 Energy and Our Universe (5 credits); Unit 3 Biology and Our Environment (5 credits). Optional units: Unit 4 Applications of Chemical Substances (5 credits); Unit 5 Applications of Physical Science (5 credits); Unit 6 Health Applications of Life Sciences (5 credits); Unit 10 The Living Body (10 credits); Unit 17 Chemical Analysis and Detection (10credits ); Unit 18 Exploring our Universe (10 credits).

All coursework will be internally assessed and externally verified.
