This is an exciting new course that will give you an opportunity to develop acting skills across a range of performance genres. On the course you will study three units including:
- The Principles of Acting where you will perform in two contrasting plays which will explore a range of acting techniques. The plays will be fully produced and performed to a public audience in one of our two performance spaces.
- Students will also compile a portfolio of work which will include research into two different acting practitioners and a reflection on their development as an actor. Students will also devise a Theatre-in-Education performance which will be performed to a target audience
- Drama improvisation, helping you build skills as an actor
General College entry criteria applies. Relevant experience will also be required.
This is a hands on, practical course designed to help you to build skills as an actor. There is potential for you on to progress onto a wide range of university degrees leading to careers including acting, directing, teaching and creative writing.
You will develop specific acting skills that will equip you for working as an actor within the Performing Arts industry.
Throughout the course you will perform to a live audience and develop your understanding of the techniques involved in acting. There will be opportunities for you to take part in theatre visits and workshops with professional companies.
You will be assessed based on your acting, your contribution to the process and on a piece of writing that allows you to reflect on your acting technique and rehearsal process.
Please note the awarding body for all BTEC qualifications recently made the decision to extend the current BTEC courses in our offer beyond 2018. This means that for 2018 entry, all Level 3 vocational subjects will continue to be assessed by coursework only, with the exception of Art and Design.
This is ideal for those who wish to progress on to higher education or a career within acting.
