Whether you’re an aspiring musician or vocalist, this course is the perfect qualification to help you hone your technical and performance skills, supporting progression on to a variety of careers in the music industry. Throughout your time studying Music Performance you’ll work on your solo performances, develop your teamwork skills working as part of a band, and have the opportunity to experience playing a variety of instruments. You’ll explore a range of music genres and techniques; key topics include:

- Music theory

The College is home to professional grade music facilities, including state of the art recording and mixing studios. There’s also a variety of dedicated practice and performance spaces, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to develop your talents! Our teachers are experienced musicians and performers, who will push you to explore a range of genres and musical styles, supported by dedicated vocal coaches and specialist instrument tuition. As well as honing your performance skills on one of our theatre stages, you’ll also lend your hand to song writing, musical arrangement and you’ll develop your technical skills in relation stage equipment, lighting and production.
Students can study Music Performance as part of a mixed programme alongside two other subjects, or opt to study the course alongside our BTEC in Performing Arts, turning it into a full time course. This course combination is perfect for those hoping to access a career in Music as an employee, apprentice or undergraduate student.
Good to Know
The ability to read music is not a necessity for this course, though you will learn musical theory in your first year.
