BTEC Creative Performance and Acting is a hands-on, engaging course that will develop your skills, knowledge and experience of dramatic performance. This is offered as a 2 A Level equivalent course meaning you will study this alongside one other subject.
You’ll learn the latest techniques and practices and apply these to your performances, allowing you to experiment and see what works best for you as actor. These experiences will give you a deeper understanding of the process of creating a performance, supporting you to become ready for industry success.
General entry criteria applies and relevant experience will be required
The topics you will study will see you growing your skills and knowledge. These include:
- Acting styles
- Investigating practitioners work
- Developing skills and techniques for live performance
- Group performance workshop
- Performing Arts in the community
On this dynamic course, you’ll develop into a creative, confident and articulate Actor who can work across a variety of performance forms and contexts. You’ll also have the opportunity to step outside the role of actor and experience the Performing Arts from the perspective of a creator, enhancing your experience and career options.
You will hone your skills in our state-of-the-art theatre which was revamped in summer 2019. This unique space features industry standard lighting, video projection and sound, giving you the chance to experience life as a professional performer whilst at College.
Studying this subject at HNC is an immersive experience, and our experienced subject specialists will support and challenge you, refining your skills and ability as an Actor. You’ll be inspired by a variety of visiting external experts, and put your skills to the test through an exciting range of performances, activities and assignments.
Assessment is via internal and external assessment.
BTEC Creative Performance and Acting will prepare you to progress to degree level study or industry. This industry is worth over billion annually, and offers so many opportunities beyond the obvious.
Many of our students move on to Acting Schools, and we have seen some great successes from our alumni, including acting roles in Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge, and running their own community work companies. Former student Lawrence Guntert is a successful performer with theatre credits including, ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, ‘Cabaret’, and a UK wide tour of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’
