Minimum of a Grade 4 in GCSE PE/ Pass in a vocational equivalent.
The Extended Certificate/Diploma is an advanced course of study and equivalent to two A Levels. You will study this alongside 1 other subject. You will cover a range of topics including fitness, anatomy and physiology, sports coaching and professional development in the sports industry. In addition, you will experience various areas of sport related employment including work based experience. It is ideally suited for you if you are interested in a sport related career or if you wish to progress and study the subject at degree level. The course is interactive and provides you with an excellent understanding and background into a whole range of sport pathways.
Assessment is by coursework.
Please note the awarding body for all BTEC qualifications recently made the decision to extend the current BTEC courses in our offer beyond 2018. This means that for 2018 entry, all Level 3 vocational subjects will continue to be assessed by coursework only, with the exception of Art and Design.
There is potential for you to progress onto a wide range of university degrees leading to careers in Sports coaching, sports development, teaching, leisure centre management and gym instruction.
