General College entry criteria applies.

This course gives you the opportunity to be in College for three days a week and on work placement for two days a week. Over the two years you will have placements in a primary school, a private day nursery and a pre-school playgroup. Whilst at placement you will need to build up a professional practice portfolio to demonstrate your skills and knowledge when working with children.

This work will be supported in the classroom where you will discover theory to assist you with placement work. You will look at the importance of working in partnership with parents and other professionals. You will discover how children learn through play and how practitioners provide an enabling environment. In our vibrant learning environment you will have the opportunity to learn about good practice when working with children.

Students are assessed by Internal assignments and external online tasks.  In each year of your course you will have an externally assessed task taken under exam conditions in the classroom. This is completed online with the use of resources which will be available to use in the room, as well as internet access to resources.
