The Men’s Football Academy was the first academy at Huddersfield New College; we play in the English Colleges Football League.

The English Colleges Football Association was formed in 2002 following developments which had taken place within the parent body (British Colleges Sport). ECFA developed the English Colleges Football League (sanctioned by the Football Association) to provide a  competitive context for young talented footballers recruited into college football academies around the country.

Strict criteria are applied before membership to the league is approved to help ensure that the young players are receiving the best possible conditions to further their technical development, whilst following a full time vocational or academic programme, which will lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

All coaching at the Football Academy is delivered by UEFA 'A' or 'B' licensed coaches and players receive a minimum of 6 hours coaching per week.  Students work daily on their fitness and technique, and gain knowledge of other key issues such as diet and nutrition. They will have the opportunity to complete a 1st4Sport Certification in the Coaching Football Level 1 (The FA), principles of Coaching Level 2, Emergency First Aid, Child Protection Modules as well as the opportunity to participate in tours.

Academy players are expected to work hard in both the classroom and in training. Good attendance and progression on a player's chosen study programme is compulsory.

If you would like to be considered for this academy at Huddersfield New College, please choose this on your application alongside your academic course choices. Selection for this academy is by trials, and if you apply you will be invited to trials for your chosen sport.

You must apply for a full programme of study alongside the Football Academy.
