Huddersfield Town Ladies have formed an official link with Huddersfield New College Girls’ Football team. Huddersfield New College Girls’ football coach, Wayne Russell, commented “This is an exciting link and will provide our girls with a clear pathway for progressing their footballing careers with a well established and ambitious club”.
Huddersfield Town Ladies have up to 90 players registered to play for them each season and of these up to 50 are from their three junior teams who will eventually progress into further education. The link with New College will not only allow these players to be fully assessed by New College Girls’ Football Academy, but also gives those girls already within the Academy the opportunity to try out for Huddersfield Town Ladies two open age teams who play their home games at Storthes Hall.
Coach education and use of New College’s training facilities will also form part of the agreement with coaches from both the club and the college working together from time to time.
Club Chairman David Mallin commented, ‘We are very excited by the tie up between our club and New College who have fantastic facilities and who are also known as an excellent Football Academy offering education alongside the opportunity to play college football at the highest level.’
