Throughout the year, we offer our students the chance to participate in an Equality and Diversity ‘Badge Scheme’. To celebrate those who had achieved 3 badges or more, we had a prize draw last Thursday in the dining room. Congratulations go to all students who contributed to the scheme, you’re all winners in our eyes, but unfortunately, there could only be one prize winner on this occasion. Well done to George Richardson (Sport) for bagging himself the iPad Mini!
It wasn’t all about George and his iPad win though; the event was also aimed at raising awareness of some important issues. We had a fantastic 60 second ‘Zip It’ sponsored silence for the charity ‘Action on Hearing Loss’. One of Huddersfield New College’s students, Chris Vaughan, also organised a fundraising ‘tea and chat’ bake sale to raise awareness of the Visual Impairment charity, Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Keep an eye out around college for our next Equality and Diversity event, we’d love to see you there.
