With the European and Local Elections due to take place on Thursday, Huddersfield New College invited local candidates to come to a First Time Voter Session at Huddersfield New College for a question and answer session.
Local candidates Andrew Cooper, Jason McCartney, Barry Sheerman and Andrew Marchington answered questions on a diverse range of topics from both students and staff. Host, New College student Nathan Archer, did an excellent job of fielding questions and keeping the candidates to order!
The session was aimed at increasing awareness of the upcoming elections on campus, and encouraging New College students to vote, was a resounding success.
Event organiser, Lee Speight, said “It was great to see some of our local candidates able to discuss their political ideas in front of our students and demonstrate the impact voting has on everyone in the community”.
