Huddersfield New College and Holmfirth High School were chosen to host the Grand Depart Trophy ahead of Le Tour Yorkshire coming to Huddersfield in July.
New College Students, Levi Moody and Gabriel Cullaigh, were on hand to help Kirklees Mayor, Cllr Martyn Bolt, Principal Angela Williams and Enrichment and Engagement Manager, Lee Speight, proudly lift the trophy in the college’s Sports Barn. Levi and Gabriel are talented cyclists themselves, so this may well have been a practice run for when they lift the trophy for real in the future!
Angela Williams, said: “We were proud to be chosen as one of only two hosts in the area for the Grand Depart trophy. It recognises the talent within Huddersfield New College and our future professional cyclists and possible Olympic gold medal hopefuls.”
