Sport plays a huge role at Huddersfield New College, and with such a large number of our student body studying the subject (and playing a big part in our academy teams), we thought it was high time that we hosted an awards ceremony to showcase the talent we have here!
The Sports Personalities of the Year Awards were hosted by Jamie Marsden, Head of Academies, and attended by our sports staff team, the senior leadership team and the governors. Principal, Angela Williams, led the introductions and reminded us all of the amazing and talented students, past and present, who have studied sport at HNC.
Winners on the evening included George Richardson, Israel Henderson, Alice Linsell and Molly Irons, with awards being handed out across the sporting disciplines.
Jamie Marsden said, “The inaugural Sports Personalities of the Year Awards were highly successful. With the hundreds of students who study the subject and take part in the academy teams, it’s great to be able to celebrate the commitment, come rain or shine, that our students show to sport”.
Spirits were high and the evening was great fun; we have a feeling that SPOTY will become one of HNC’s highly anticipated end of year traditions!
