Huddersfield New College Media students have put in a marathon effort; watching 13 films in 24 hours in a bid to raise funds for their annual awards ceremony in June!
Fuelled by pizza, sweets, chocolate and water, our media students wiled away 24 hours watching film after film, including some excellent classics… Forrest Gump, Silence of the Lambs, Pulp Fiction and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest to name but a few.
The movie marathon took place on the College’s campus, with staff and students settling in for the night in sleeping bags. Simon’s movie generator was responsible for the movie choices, and impressively, most managed to stay awake for the duration.
The highlight of the evening was our very own Gary Eastwood fully immersed in a black and white Polish art film with subtitles… pure rapture!
We ended the marathon with a well-deserved award for the student with the most staying power. With the Media students being the troopers they are, it ended up being a tie. Well done to Mel Powell, Georgina Fearnley, Jodie Lunn and Hannah Duell who emerged 24 hours after the marathon began, victorious.
