Following on from his success in 2014, U16 Racketlon World Champion and HNC student Piers has already had a busy 2015 season. On top of his usual college work, revision and exams, Piers has also been successfully competing in his discipline as often as possible.

As an elite sportsman, Piers is supported by our network of teachers and tutors to ensure that he’s as successful in the classroom as he is out of it! This year, the College decided to award Piers a grant in order to help him continue his quest for Racketlon world domination, the money going towards his participation in the Malta Open in October 2015. It’s part of the Racketlon International World Tour, where there will be plenty of publicity and ranking points up for grabs.

Piers has been training hard to ready himself for Malta, and has already participated in numerous tournaments this year. 2015 has thrown up new challenges for Piers, who will now play in the Men’s Elite Categories rather than the 16 and under categories he participated in previously. We’re pleased to report that despite the category change, Piers continues to impress, and recent successes include a very respectable 2nd place in the Men’s Elite Doubles at the Welsh Open in February.

Piers will be playing several games and tournaments a month in the lead up to the Malta Open, with the next big tournament being held in Surrey later in the summer. We would like to take this opportunity to say just how proud of Piers we are, and to wish him the very best of luck for his future competitions.
