Business students at Huddersfield New College welcomed staff from PWC for a special Dragon’s Den style challenge.
A Level and BTEC Business students had the fantastic opportunity of being able to work with staff from PWC’s Auditing team who set the teams a brief to design a campaign and pitch this to a panel of PWC 'Dragons'.
Students spent the morning in teams planning their campaign to a brief from the Dragons, and were supported to think about creative strategies for success, just as they would in a business based brainstorming session. The groups were then given two minutes to pitch their campaign ideas, and compete for the prize of a day in the PWC's Leeds office. The day will allow the group to gain a flavour of working life in the second largest professional services firm in the world and explore just some of the careers open to them.
Paula Husband, Head of Business says: “Ensuring that our Business students have unique opportunities such as this is just one of the ways we bring theory to life, and support them in being able to hear directly from real life professionals about where their qualifications can take them. It was a lively session, with some really creative ideas and great answers to the questions put to the group by the Dragons! The group also gained some invaluable career entry information, particularly about post college higher apprenticeship routes. We are really looking forward to hearing about the experiences of the winning team, and would like to thank the staff from PWC for offering our students this experience.”
