A group of A Level Film Studies, A Level Media Studies and BTEC Creative Media (TV and Film) were lucky enough to be selected to be filmed for a new ITV promotional video for the Emmerdale Experience following a recent trip.
Students from HNC on Creative Media courses enjoyed a visit to the Emmerdale Studio Experience which offers them a chance to take a behind the scenes look at how the popular soap is created, developing their knowledge. They also enjoyed taking part in a specialist workshop which helps them to explore the various stages of production, such as script development. This time HNC students were invited to be interviewed by the ITV team for a new promotional video they are making to market the experience, giving students a chance to experience life in front of a camera.
Of course, the session involves a set tour and a chance to try their hand at activities including lighting a scene. The group took away a special memento of their visit – a photo of themselves on the most iconic sofa in soapland, the Dingle family sofa!
Gary Eastwood, Teacher of Creative Media says: “This is a really fascinating experience for students, and we were delighted to be asked to feature in the forthcoming promotional video. We have visited the studios before, and were invited to take part as our students are well known for their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour. Many of our Creative Media students progress to careers in the industry, and the visit helped them to further understand the volume of work involved in creating just one episode. They also gained a real life insight into the pressures faced by those in front of the camera. We’re really looking forward to seeing the final product."
