A Level Dance students recently enjoyed a visit from professional dancer and HNC Alumni Amelia Fielding. Amelia spoke to current students about how she broke into the competitive world of professional dance. Amelia than ran a jazz and commercial dance workshop for students.

Amelia studied A Levels in Dance, English Language and Textile Design before becoming a professional dancer. She has appeared in Flashdance and recently performed in Cinderella at the Bristol Hippodrome alongside Gok Wan.

Her visit helped our current students hear advice from a real life professional about breaking into the industry, and develop some new dance skills and techniques from a practical workshop.

Cat John, Teacher of Dance comments: “It was a real pleasure and privilege to welcome Amelia back to HNC, she is a fantastic example of how A Level Dance can support progression into a career as a professional dancer. We know that this can be a highly competitive industry, and it was fantastic for our students to hear how Amelia had successfully secured roles on the stage and find out more about her experiences. I would like to thank Amelia for taking the time to inspire our students, and we look forward to continuing to hear how her career as a professional dancer is progressing.”
