Enrichment at Huddersfield New College is back up and running after the Christmas break and students are being given the chance to kick start the New Year by trying something new.
Today (Friday 10th January) students were able to join an Archery trial, and sign up to a free six week programme. Places are limited, and will see the group receiving lessons from an experienced coach across the programme.
Enrichment at HNC is a key part of the student experience. Students can opt to sign up to a vast range of activities and opportunities based on their future ambitions and interests. Each of these help students to grow new skills outside of the classroom, enhance their time and College and help them to prepare for their next steps. A full list of activities is available via Moodle, and all students are being encouraged to sign up to a new activity in 2020.
Archery is part of the ‘Get Active’ element of HNC’s enrichment, and during the post Christmas and mock exam period, the College encourages students to explore how physical activity can not only improve their general health, but also help them to manage stress and take a break from their studies.
A small number of places are still available, and can be booked by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Pete Lombard, Talented Athlete Lead and event organiser comments: “Archery is just one of the extras we are offering this year as part of our drive to encourage students to Get Active in 2020! There’s lots of unusual benefits from Archery, such as improved hand eye co-ordination and an increased ability to make the right decision when under pressure – which brings wider benefits to your studies. Today’s taster session was really well received, and with no cost, it’s a great way to try something different in 2020 with nothing to lose. Later in the year we’ll be rolling out a variety of other activities such as Bollywood dancing in addition to our unusual ENJOY offer, and we look forward to sharing more about this.”
