Huddersfield New College (HNC), the TES Sixth Form College of the Year 2019, has announced that the College is in the running for the 2020 title.

Today the TES has revealed the shortlist for the TES 2020 awards. These nationally acclaimed awards recognise the most outstanding individuals and institutions in the sector. Last year Huddersfield New College won the title of the TES Sixth Form College of the Year 2019 and celebrated being crowned the number one College in the country.

Since then, HNC students have achieved even better results, with the Class of 2019 securing a record breaking 100% pass rate for A Level and BTEC and a 68% high grade rate (A* - B or equivalent).

Angela Williams OBE comments: “Winning the title of Sixth Form College of the Year 2019 was absolutely fantastic and a real recognition of the exceptional experience our students enjoy. Since then our young people have achieved even greater successes, and as a College that constantly strives to be better, we felt that we should enter for the prestigious title once again in recognition of this greater success, although we are aware that it would be unusual to win this prestigious crown for two years running! We are shortlisted alongside some amazing fellow Colleges, and whatever the outcome, we are delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2020 title.”

Tes FE editor Stephen Exley said: “Excellent practice exists right across the further education sector, and those shortlisted for the Tes FE Awards are the cream of the crop. Our judges were extremely impressed with the calibre of entries. To be shortlisted is an extraordinary achievement."

The winners will be revealed at the awards evening in London on Friday 20th March 2020.
