Huddersfield New College’s (HNC) first year Games Design students have gained a flavour of what their future careers as Games Designers hold for them in an exciting and informative taster session at the University of Huddersfield.
The College’s students were invited to take part in an interactive 3D masterclass at the University, which saw students using professional grade software including ZBrush and UDK. The opportunity to experience and use industry standard software provides our students with techniques that are essential for progressing into competitive industries such as Games Design, while helping them to develop skills that have a positive impact on their own studies. After the workshop, students heard from the University’s current Games Design students about life at the university.
Gillian Kelly, Course Leader for Games Design, commented “Our first year Games Design students had a fantastic time at the University of Huddersfield. Not only has the visit inspired them to start thinking about their next step after HNC, it’s also allowed them to gain an insight into life as a professional Games Designer. The skills our students learnt during the workshop will be brought back to the classroom and will benefit their progression beyond HNC. Thanks go to the University of Huddersfield for inviting us to spend the day with their students and staff”.
