Huddersfield New College today hosted a specialist workshop for students looking to achieve their ambitions in the workplace post HNC, including when applying for degree level apprenticeships.

In the latest in a series of employability workshops and sessions, students today joined professionals from DHL for an Interview Masterclass. The group enjoyed a behind the scenes look at the interview process, the types of questions they can expect and the STAR interview technique -  a structured manner of responding to a behavioral-based interview question by discussing the specific situation, task, action, and result.

HNC’s dedicated in-house Careers team has been working with Career Ready and C&K Careers to help students to get career ready with a series of masterclasses and support sessions around areas such as writing CVs, succeeding in selection centres and preparing for interview.

Ben Burgin, Careers Advisor comments: “There is a world of opportunity available to our young people, who can opt for a series of different pathways to achieve their career ambitions and plan to enter the workforce after HNC, including via an apprenticeship or a degree level apprenticeship and by applying for vacancies. Our visiting professionals and masterclasses help students to succeed in this competitive process, and give them a real flavour of what is expected of them in real life interview situations. We look forward to continuing to support our students and once again seeing them secure some unique and highly sought after apprenticeship and professional positions post HNC.”
