Huddersfield New College has revealed that it is creating a yearbook for the Class of 2020 to hopefully give students who are preparing for their next step a chance to reflect on and celebrate their time at HNC during the College’s remote learning phase.

In recognition of how students may not be able to experience the usual celebrations to mark the end of their studies, HNC is inviting students and staff to submit their fun photos, messages and memories. Of course, HNC still intends to give students a chance to celebrate face to face once it is deemed safe to do so.

A book of all these messages, memories and photos will be created as a yearbook and issued to each student as a memento of their time at HNC. With students staying home and staying safe, the College hopes they will use this time to look through their phones for photos, and to think about all that has been positive about their HNC journey and send a message to be published. This is an ‘unofficial’ HNC publication, and students are free to share their fun pictures and messages to staff and their friends. Full details and further guidance can be found below.

Angela Williams OBE, Principal comments: “These are anxious times for everyone, and we hope that our Class of 2020 will use some of the time they have whilst staying safe at home to make a submission to their yearbook. Whilst we appreciate that this is not quite the same as some of the celebrations that were planned over the coming weeks, we are hoping to create something positive out of an unprecedented situation. Our Class of 2020 is certainly unique – and I would like to say I have been truly impressed by their maturity and commitment to their learning in these difficult circumstances. I look forward to seeing a collection of happy memories and naturally we look forward to the time where we are able to host a face to face celebration– please stay safe.”
