Huddersfield New College has been shortlisted for two prestigious national awards in the Sixth Form College’s Association’s (SFCA) Annual Awards. HNC has been shortlisted for awards in both the Social Mobility and Governance categories.
The Social Mobility award recognises institutions offering experiences that enhance the life chances and future professional opportunities of young people whilst the Governance award celebrates the role of Governors in helping to drive forward improvements in the institutions they support.
The winners will be announced in a special online ceremony on 18th June as part of the SFCA’s annual Summer Festival which is taking place digitally due to the pandemic.
Angela Williams OBE comments: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for two national prestigious awards. Providing an experience that enables our students to succeed is at the heart of what we do – whatever they dream of, we are here to help them to achieve it! This is reflected in our outstanding results with a 100% pass rate across all qualifications and a 68% high grade rate (A*-B or equivalent). Most of all this is shown in the individual success stories of our students of all abilities and backgrounds who are able to realise the opportunities available to them, and gain the qualifications they need to succeed whether this is a place at a world leading university or a professional role in the workplace. We could not offer all of this without the support, expertise and challenge of our outstanding Corporation and Governing body who continue to play a key role in these challenging times. As Principal I would like to thank them for the work they do and this well deserved nomination. We very much look forward to the ceremony, and have everything crossed for a win!”
