Huddersfield New College was delighted to return to College and the first day of enrolment to the news that recent HNC graduate Chloe Kerfoot has secured a Digital Apprenticeship with local communications agency, KC Communications.
Chloe is one of the hundreds of students who left this summer who are celebrating successfully progressing to the next step in their career ambitions, despite the challenges of a worldwide pandemic.
After recently completing her A Levels in English, Media and Business, Chloe successfully shone at interview for the position of Digital Apprentice with the rapidly growing local firm. The College’s Careers team supported Chloe with achieving her ambitions, providing a range of one-to-one support and access to specialist sessions as part of the College’s employability programme. The programme includes support such as a chance to hear from leading employers, and sessions on topic such as interview techniques and CV writing.
Chloe is now busy supporting KC Communication’s clients who include Heald Ltd, Round Foundry & Marshalls Mill, Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network, amongst many others. Alongside studying for her Level 3 Digital Marketing qualification, she is busy playing an active role in undertaking researching, creating and scheduling social media content, uploading content to client websites and implementing SEO across sites.
Chloe says: “I knew very early on that the apprenticeship route was for me. Following my appointment I have had the opportunity to get stuck in with daily activities. With everything going on in the world right now, I am very grateful to be sitting here today pursuing the start of my dream career, whilst earning and learning. For me this was the right decision and I hope I can inspire other individuals that these amazing opportunities are out there if you work hard and keep looking”.
Ben Burgin, Careers Advisor comments: “We worked closely with Chloe as she pursued her dream career, and we are all absolutely thrilled that she has secured her dream position despite the challenges of a worldwide pandemic. It is also fantastic when students contact us to update us on their journey – we genuinely love to hear about the successes of our young people. Having worked closely with Chloe, I am sure that she will progress to Degree level in her apprenticeship studies, and really make her mark in this ever growing and exciting sector."
Katrina Cliffe, managing director, KC Communications said: “Having started out my own career journey as an apprentice 21 years ago, I am delighted to welcome Chloe to the team. After Chloe spent a week with us in 2017 and subsequently demonstrating her eagerness to kick start her career in digital marketing she seemed the natural choice as the business continues with its ambitious growth plans. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and supporting Chloe as she embarks on her career.”
