Huddersfield New College has revealed that students can enjoy a range of FREE physical activity sessions as part of the ENJOY programme, helping them to keep both their mind and body healthy during these times. 

Activities including table tennis, badminton and basketball are running over the lunch period on a daily basis. Students also have access to the College’s onsite Fitness Suite, and each week this includes a girls only session led by a female instructor (subject to an induction and purchase of an annual gym pass priced at £10). In addition, students can continue to use the outdoor Gym or enjoy the lovely outdoor spaces at HNC with a walk around Campus and the surrounding fields. 

These are of course delivered in a Covid-19 secure environment, with key measures around cleaning, hygiene and numbers in place to ensure these are as safe as possible. ENJOY is part of the College’s wider enrichment programme, which will be fully rolled out to students after the half-term break.

Pete Lombard, ENJOY co-ordinator says: “All of our students have access to our state-of-the-art Sports facilities, regardless of their study programme. Exercise and physical activity has a proven positive link to our mental well-being, and our ENJOY programme helps students of all abilities to join a range of activities. Whilst the pandemic has placed restrictions on some aspects of all our lives inside and outside of College, being able to exercise is one thing we can all continue to do. As a department we recognise the key role that sport and physical activity has in mental well-being indeed the national Every Mind Matters campaign encourages us to 'sweat' and do something positive for our mental health. Our free ENJOY programme is a great way for students to get involved whilst they are on Campus!”
