Huddersfield New College has revealed the winners of individual subject prizes completed as part of the College’s online summer Campus for students, HNC @ Home.
In response to the pandemic and lockdown, HNC launched an online Campus and induction experience, HNC @ Home. As well as helping students to understand more about what they could expect from their time at College, students were also invited to complete and submit a range of subject based activities to support their learning during lockdown and prepare them for their future success.
Over 1200 young people logged in to the online Campus, completing activities linked to their studies. HNC teachers created some engaging and inspiring activities for students to enjoy with projects as diverse as mood boards for Textiles and designing a character for Games Design to creating a proposal for a new mobile phone for Business and planning a festival for Travel, Tourism and Events Management. All students submitting work were entered into a draw to win a £10 Amazon voucher, with one voucher available for each subject. A list of winners can be found below the photo gallery in this article.
Marcus Smith-Connor, Vice Principal comments: “We had a fantastic response to our online Campus with over 1200 of our new students logging in to explore their HNC from the safety of home. The Campus not only offered a range of support and advice, but also offered our students the opportunity to complete projects linked to their study choices, and get ahead in their studies. Our teachers have been absolutely overwhelmed by the quality and effort students placed into their projects. Whilst these were of course designed to be fun, each had a direct link to subject based content, giving students joining us a genuine head start on their learning. I would like to congratulate each and every one of our winners, and thank all students who engaged in our online Campus this summer.”
