Huddersfield New College is encouraging students to Get Career Ready by investing in their future and participating in enrichment that will enhance their future prospects. Following the recent relaunch of a revamped enrichment offer, the College is sharing more detail about each of the various parts of the enrichment offer and today has released a special video highlighting how students can invest in their future by taking a look at the Get Career Ready element of enrichment.
Whilst lockdown is limiting some of the things we can do, it has also created some unique opportunities for students to build new skills and enrich their College experience. World leading universities and businesses are currently offering an exciting range of virtual opportunities. The Careers team at HNC helps students to access these, along with a range of in-house opportunities such as talks from a wide range of virtually visiting professionals as part of the Meet the Professionals series.
As well as providing access to handy tips, workshops and lectures that help students prepare for their next steps, the Careers team also provides a range of bespoke support for activities such as CV writing, job applications, career planning and signposting to specific support and resource. The team also has a dedicated Work Placement Officer – look out for a special focus on this part of the service in the coming weeks! Our Get Career Ready video can be viewed here
Students who wish to book an appointment or find out more about these opportunities or the support available can do so on Moodle or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Dan Odlin, Careers Advisor comments: “Lockdown is an ideal opportunity for our students to use some of their free time to invest in their future. Although the way we access some of these experiences has changed, the inspiration and enhanced skills from taking part in a virtual lecture or tour, hearing from a real life professional, or accessing a support package for courses such as Medicine remains exactly the same! Our one to one support service to help students with all aspects of their career planning is of course still running and we can help with everything from sourcing support and activities that will help a student achieve their career objectives to providing assistance to complete an application form. Our dedicated area on Moodle lists a huge range of ways students can invest in their future selves and of course we can be contacted for further information too!”
