Huddersfield New College has today reminded students about just one of the opportunities available to them as part of the ‘Get Qualified’ element of enrichment.

Although the majority of students are currently joining lessons from home via MS Teams, the College’s enrichment programme continues with a wide range of activities and opportunities available. With national restrictions and the winter weather, the HNC enrichment portal offers students a great way to stay busy during lockdown, try something new, support their mental and physical well-being and invest in their future. Each of the different enrichment categories focuses on helping students to enjoy new experiences, many of which will support their future too.

Currently the College is highlighting how students can undertake the Microsoft Office specialist qualifications for free. These industry standard qualifications demonstrate a student’s proficiency and ability to use popular Microsoft Office packages such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. These prestigious qualifications help students to stand out from the crowd, and cost around £100 per exam when undertaken with a private organisation. The qualifications are open to all students, regardless of study programme.

More information and a short demonstration can be found in our short video here.

Duane Laverick, Enrichment Lead for the Microsoft Office Specialist programme says: “Microsoft Office is used around the world, so holding Microsoft Office qualifications can help students to stand out to employers. These prestigious qualifications test ability on real world scenarios, meaning they reflect a genuine ability to use a programme in the workplace. Many students tell us that undertaking these qualifications helps them learn incredibly useful programme features too, supporting them in their studies. Lockdown is an ideal opportunity to invest in your future self, and gain new qualifications. We offer the Microsoft Office qualification in a variety of packages, and students can choose which ones they undertake – and of course, as we offer them free to our students, it can mean savings of hundreds of pounds in the future!”
