Huddersfield New College has revealed that the College community has already walked, ran, wheeled and cycled a whopping 1236 miles in just two weeks in the new Halifax to Halifax (Australia) challenge. HNC has also awarded prizes to the winners from the College’s last Strava challenge, Huddersfield to Huddersfield (Jamaica).
After the success of the last challenge where staff and students soared over the 4000 mile target, HNC has released a bigger and better challenge in response to numerous requests and is aiming to complete an ambitious 9493 miles between now and the end of term. Once again the College is awarding a range of prizes for those taking part in the challenge. Last week the winners from our first challenge were awarded their prizes of a £20 Love 2 Shop voucher and winners were staff members Paul Maven and Jessica Law, and student Matthew Sale (pictured above) who won in the categories of a random participant prize draw, and most miles categories – student Matthew clocked up an impressive 80km during one week of the challenge.
With the weather improving, HNC hopes that the great start to the challenge will continue and the ambitious target will be achieved.
Kam Rogerson, Assistant Principal comments: “Wow, what an impressive achievement in just two weeks and a fabulous start for our new challenge! We received so many requests for a bigger and better challenge, and we are delighted that our College community has responded so positively. We hope of course that everyone continues to clock up those steps as although we’ve had a great start, we still have a big distance to go. Getting out and about supports our mental and physical well-being and with restrictions still in force, this is a great way for us all to work together towards achieving our big goal safely!
