Our students have been busy during lockdown, investing in themselves and their future. Today we were delighted to hear from student Maria Anjam who contacted us to share how she has launched a brand new business during lockdown.
During lockdown Maria has used her creative talents to develop her new business, MA Crafts. Maria handmakes a range of jewellery, hair accessories, key rings and gifts and sells these via Etsy, Instagram and her TikTok posts.
Maria comments: “I have found lockdown really tough, and wanted to do something constructive and use the time wisely. I launched MA Crafts and handmake a range of items and orders have been going really well. I really enjoy arts and crafts and although I am studying Childcare and Education, I am really interested in business too and using lockdown to grow my own company has combined my creativity and interests. There has been so much to learn and my confidence has improved hugely. I intend to train as a primary school teacher after College, and I know many of the skills I have gained by doing this will be a huge asset.”
Lee Goddard, Vice Principal comments: “Our students have used lockdown to invest in themselves and their future in many different ways from gaining a new qualification to getting active as part of our Strava challenge. We were delighted to hear that Maria has managed to get her own business up and running, and that sales have flourished. This proactivity and dedication will undoubtedly be a real asset to her future career.”
