Huddersfield New College has revealed that next week Year 12 students will be getting career ready during a special week which will help them to start to plan life after HNC, and what they need to do in order to successfully progress to the next stage in their career ambitions.
This Progression Week will see students join a range of virtual session covering topics such as enhancing employability, how to write a great CV, what university has to offer and what student life looks like. For those who are considering entering into the workplace there will be special sessions on searching for jobs and apprenticeships. These will take place virtually.
As always, students can book appointments with our dedicated on site Careers Advisors, and join in the wide range of opportunities and activities on offer such as virtual work experience, university lectures and sessions on topics such as presentation skills to help them to stand out from the crowd. Students can see Moodle for details of what’s new each week.
Dan Odlin, Careers Manager says: “Although our Year 12 have another year before completion of their studies, now is of course a key time that we support them to get career ready, and help them to plan how they will stand out in an increasingly competitive market. Despite the pandemic we are continuing to prepare our students for their next steps, and supporting them to remain focused on their goals and our range of progression related activities is part of this. Alongside this we have our usual fantastic careers support, advice and guidance and a wide range of additional opportunities. These all help students to enhance their skills, and gain new and unique experiences that ensure they stand head and shoulders above others when applying for in demand university places and jobs. As a College, we are here to help each and every student realise their ambitions. Our Careers service helps our young people to map out how their dreams can become a reality, and we look forward to supporting our soon to be Year 13 students take their next step to a range of exciting destinations.”
