Huddersfield New College has revealed that it is up for two top national awards in the Sixth Form College Association’s (SFCA) annual awards.
The College appears twice in the top three across two award categories.
In the Covid-19 Response category, HNC has been shortlisted for HNC @ Home, our online College for students moving into Year 12, and for ‘We are HNC’, which recognises the whole College response to the pandemic.
In the Governance category, the work of our Chair of Corporation, Linda Summers, is up for an award, as well as the Corporation’s approach to self-evaluation.
The SFCA Annual Awards recognise outstanding practice in Sixth Form Colleges across the UK.
Angela Williams OBE, Principal: “We are absolutely delighted to be in the running for these two national SFCA awards. Our Corporation, and our Chair of Corporation, Linda Summers, play a critical role in ensuring we remain an Outstanding Sixth Form College. Winning a Governance award would be a well-deserved recognition of their dedicated voluntary work on behalf of the College, work which makes a difference for each and every one of our students.”
“Like every school and College across the country, we have had to respond to an ever changing pandemic situation, and our appearance on the Covid-19 Response shortlist reflects the hard work of everyone at HNC in our response. Our HNC @ Home is a particular Silver Lining of our response. It was introduced so that our prospective Year 12 students could be supported safely with their transition to College in Summer 2020. It has been so popular, however, it will have a life beyond the pandemic! We are very much looking forward to the awards ceremony in June– fingers crossed!”
