Huddersfield New College has been honoured with two national awards by the Sixth Form College’s Association in recognition of the College’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first award was for ‘One HNC’, and recognises the whole team effort at the College to minimise the disruption to our students’ education during the pandemic The second award was for HNC @ Home, HNC’s innovative online College for new students, to support their successful transition to the College.
Angela Williams OBE, Principal comments: “The last 18 months have been an incredible challenge for staff, students and their families. We have all had to manage so many changes in both our working and daily lives during these 18 months, some overnight, such as the introduction of onsite mass testing at the College. Throughout it all, however, as a staff, we have never lost sight of our Vision as a College to ensure that each and every student who studies with us realises their full potential at the College, and moves on from the College with hope for their future, and with the knowledge, skills and confidence to ensure that this future will be a bright one. This is why I am so incredibly proud to receive these awards on behalf of our staff.
“I would also like to thank our students, and their parents and carers for their contribution to these awards. Without their unswerving support for the College during this pandemic we would not have been able to manage the impact of the pandemic on our work so successfully. So with such a talented staff, and an incredibly supportive student and parent/carer body, we are confident that whatever challenges Covid-19 presents to us next year, we will rise to these challenges, and meet them successfully too, so that our students continue to receive an outstanding education and wider student experience at the College and can look forward to their future beyond the College with hope and optimism. ”
