Huddersfield New College’s CACHE Technical Level 3 Diploma Childcare students recently enjoyed a visit to the University of Huddersfield. The trip helped to inspire them about the opportunities available at degree level, and stretched and challenged their subject knowledge.

The group joined Lecturers from the Education department at Huddersfield to sample some lectures and interactive workshops based on the qualifications they can consider applying for such as Education, Teacher Training, Early Years and Community Work.

On the day students met current university students, heard more about the courses on offer and their content, and joined a session to help them to understand how they can write an effective personal statement. They day ended with a fun activity where they used Lego to express their own vision of university life.

Julie Carver, Teachers of Early Years comments: “Our CACHE Technical Level 3 in Childcare qualification can lead to an exciting range of destinations. The majority of our students opt to pursue their studies at degree level, progressing to a varied range of exciting and rewarding careers. Visits to universities form an important part of our experience, and are a fantastic way to help our students to understand what is involved in studying a variety of specialist areas at degree level. The sample content they also access as part of this is also a great way to enhance their current knowledge. From the moment our students join us we support them to explore the exciting destinations their course can lead to, and the day has really helped our students to think about their future.”
