Keynote speaker Eorl Crabtree entertained our virtual audience before presentations were made. Following this, there was an roll call for the recent graduates from the Level 5 Foundation Degree course in Sport and Exercise Science, accredited by the University of Central Lancashire. There was also a celebration of the 500 plus students with Outstanding Academic Achievement - this recognised students who achieved 3 or more A or A* or equivalent grades at A Level.
The evening was also an opportunity to present our outgoing Principal Angela Williams with an Outstanding Legacy to HNC award, in thanks of her dedication to HNC and in recognition of how her leadership has transformed our College, and the experience of thousands of students. Angela will be retiring in summer 2022, making this her last Celebration Evening.
Linda Summers, Chair of the Corporation comments: "It was an absolute pleasure to be part of the Celebration Evening for the Class of 2021. Our young people have achieved so much in the face of the challenges of the pandemic, but have remained committed and dedicated to their studies and their ambitions and the event was a real opportunity to reflect on this."
“It was also a huge privilege to join the event to present a special award to our current Principal Angela who has been at the helm of HNC since 2007. Angela will be retiring in summer 2022, and it is only fitting we presented her with an Outstanding Legacy Award at her final Celebration Evening. Throughout her time as Principal Angela has been unswerving in her commitment to both the College and the thousands of young people who have been through our doors. Angela has, and continues to be, absolutely passionate about ensuring students benefit from a truly outstanding experience inside and outside of the classroom. The success of this is reflected in the amazing things our students go on to achieve! As Chair of the Corporation, and on behalf of all the Governors, I would like to thank Angela for her dedication and outstanding leadership, and wish her a very happy retirement."
