Yesterday, Travel and Tourism students at Huddersfield New College took part in interactive Careers in Travel workshops delivered by Mark Wilkinson, Business Development Manager for EasyJet, to explore available opportunities in this rewarding industry.
Mark, who has also worked for British Airways and Tui, gave students an insight into the vast range of roles available within the travel and tourism industry, as well as detailed information on the skills and qualifications required for these.
In addition, students had the opportunity to get hands-on through a range of interactive elements, including role play and group work activities. They were also able to ask Mark questions throughout and further develop their knowledge of this industry and fuel their passion for entering it.
Regular guest speakers form a key part of studying Travel and Tourism at HNC, and yesterday’s sessions were the latest in a long line of exciting guest visitors for students, with Mark being a longstanding friend of the Department.
Reflecting on the workshops, Amanda Beirne, Teacher of Travel and Tourism said: “Mark has been a regular guest in the department for the past 8 years or so and it was a pleasure to welcome him back to the College for another day of inspiring workshops. The students found his sessions really beneficial in helping to give them the drive and motivation to plan their progression after leaving College. Mark’s visit was a big success and we can’t wait to welcome him back to HNC next year.”
