Huddersfield New College has revealed that the latest edition of the HNC Echo is out now. The HNC Echo is written for students, by students and is one of the College’s many enrichment opportunities.
At the end of a very busy year, we are excited to be publishing this latest edition – the final one for our departing Year 13 students! This edition contains a varied range of content including high profile interviews with BBC Look North Presenter Amy Garcia and Film Director Shane Meadows.
Writing for the HNC Echo, the College magazine, is just one of the College’s enrichment opportunities, and as part of this students are encouraged to develop their writing skills, as well as gain experiences which reflect what life could be like working in the media. Of course, students who are looking for a creative outlet can also join the programme.
The group meets each week, and a range of sessions and visiting speakers help students to grow relevant skills in areas such as writing news stories and feature articles, interview techniques and progression opportunities, amongst others. You can read more about the programme here. Our new Year 12 students will be able to find out more about joining the programme at a special Freshers' Fair.
Hayley Doyle, Journalism enrichment lead comments: “I am delighted to be wrapping up the academic year by releasing this fantastic edition which is packed with some brilliant content. Being part of the HNC Echo is a real creative opportunity for our students, and this edition features professional standard content where our talented writers have interviewed some high profile individuals including BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia and Shane Meadows. Whilst we are sad to be saying farewell to our Year 13 Echo writers, a number of them are pursuing a future in the media and I am sure that they will all be highly successful. I would like to congratulate the group on a really successful year, and thank them for their hard work and commitment to our College magazine."
