HNC has revealed that our students have been named as winners in the prestigious ‘Show and Tell’ national competition.
Hosted by the Photography Movement, the #MyPhotoMyFeeling competition invited students to submit a photograph that expressed their emotions. One of our enrichments in the last academic year was ‘Bold Branding’, and students in the group worked on images and submitted these as a group.
Out of 34,531 entries HNC students were selected to be part of the 2022 Show and Tell exhibition. Three students Ben, Aoife (listed as Ciara in the exhibition) and Luke had their photographs selected, and as a result HNC was named as one of the overall competition winners. The College has been awarded a range of photography equipment as a prize, including a Cannon camera, tripod and lights. You can view their work here (please note you will need to scroll down to the listing for Huddersfield New College)
Rebecca King, Graphic Designer, ran this enrichment and says: “Photography is a key way to communicate visually and express emotion. As a group we entered this national competition, reflecting on how photography can be used to share our feelings. I am thrilled HNC was named as one of the winners, and we are of course delighted to have received this fantastic prize which will help more students express themselves through photography.”

A representative from Show and Tell says: “Such incredible work has been created and we are absolutely thrilled to reward a selection of schools and young people across the UK with a professional photography pack to encourage further mindful photography practice.Picking winners was an incredibly difficult task – a huge thanks to our partners NSEAD, Teen Tips and First News for helping us make the final selection. And a very big congratulations to all of the winners, your incredible work inspires us every step of the way.”
