On 31st October our students and staff returned for a new term. This also coincided with the launch of a brand new set of enrichments for students to choose from! In today’s special article we shine a spotlight on just a few of them which have started this term.
Here at HNC students can access a wide range of enrichment opportunities which are all designed to enrich and enlighten them outside of the classroom. All students are strongly encouraged to take part in enrichment as it helps them to gain the competitive edge when applying for world-leading universities, apprenticeships and jobs. It also provides them with an opportunity to build new skills, grow their confidence and make new friends.
Our comprehensive enrichment programme offers a vast choice of opportunities, which range from four week block activities such as life-drawing to our Sports Academies and the DofE programme. You can read more about our programme here. Students can also access the full range of activities and book their place via Moodle.
Each term a new selection of enrichments start, giving students a chance to try something new. Upon our return students have been able to opt for some brand new additions including Chess Club, rehearsals for the College musical, Chicago, Laser Jewellery, Knitting Club, a ‘History of Ideas’ lecture series, Fashion Design, Adobe Illustrator tutorials and a chance to learn Taijiquan (Tai Chi). The image gallery below shows our students enjoying just some of these new enrichments for this term. Our header image demonstrates our Chess Club lead and Principal Marcus being challenged during a game by one of our students.
Maria Dean, Assistant Principal at HNC comments: “Enrichment is at the front and centre of the experience at HNC, ensuring our young people enjoy an exceptional experience inside and outside of the classroom. In today’s competitive world where universities and employers are seeking more than a set of exceptional academic qualifications our programme gives our students access to opportunities that give them the competitive edge whilst enabling them to try something new. Our brand new enrichment programme was launched in September, and we are delighted to see so many students enjoying our new enrichments for the autumn term.”
