Huddersfield New College (HNC) is proud to announce that the College’s Cricket Academy has been named in The Cricketer’s ‘Top 100 Schools’ Guide for 2023. This prestigious guide sees hundreds of schools and Colleges from both the state and independent sectors submit an entry to the guide, and the rigorous selection process means that only the very best teams and academies are successfully selected.
All entries were judged against an extensive set of criteria, which included a compelling commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching. The Cricketer, which is the world’s number 1 cricket magazine judged the entries and consulted former England star, Lydia Greenway, and her coaching initiative ‘Cricket for Girls’ as part of the selection process. This comes at an exciting time as our Cricket Academy has grown, and we recently welcomed a new Coach, Jack Hendy, who is also a former student.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the College has been named in the guide. Lead Cricket Coach, Pete Lombard comments “It’s fantastic to see the HNC’s Cricket Academy recognised in the Top 100 Schools Guide for 2023. A huge amount of work goes into supporting our Cricketers to develop their skills, and our coaching team is able to develop our young cricketers in our state-of-the-art cricket facilities. Congratulations to our staff team and players past and present for helping us to achieve such an exceptional accolade in a year which saw hundreds of exceptional entries to the guide. We look forward to an exciting Cricket season in 2023!”
