HNC Travel, Tourism and Events Management students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) ‘Future You’ conference at Leeds Beckett University to hear from leaders from within the Travel and Tourism sector about their roles and their journeys to success. The event, designed to bring industry and education together, saw a series of guest speakers share more about how young people can gain access to a vast range of exciting and interesting careers within the sector.
On the day, students were invited to listen to a series of inspiring talks. Students heard from independent Travel Counsellors and representatives from national tour operators, who shared their stories of challenges and successes within the travel industry, and more about their day-to-day roles. Students also attended talks from Manchester Airport, discovering more about the work and logistics that go on behind the scenes of a busy international airport.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to attend special round table discussions with travel professionals, who shared with delegates their routes into the industry and their top tips and advice for others wanting to pursue similar careers. Specialist careers advice sessions, tailored to student’s ambitions, were also held throughout the event, helping students to further plan their next steps beyond College.
