HNC has revealed our talented students have been celebrating some exceptional feedback following their performance at "Strictly Pennine” at the Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT), Huddersfield.
At this local festival of dance our Year 12 and Year 13 Applied Dance students wowed audiences with a range of numbers including "One Night Only” and “LaLa Land.” Students both choreographed and performed this at a special evening which featured a young people from across the area in a vibrant, energetic and entertaining of performances celebrating dance in all it’s forms and styles. The gallery below features just a couple of images from the event.
Taking part was a valuable opportunity for students to able to experience delivering a professional performance to a live audience. One audience member, whose young daughter was also part of the show, wrote in to share their feedback:
“My daughter has never done this type of thing before. However, in the car on the way home she was telling us about the ‘college ladies’ and how they had been there near the stage entrances and had congratulated them on their performance as they came off….People are always so quick to point out the negatives about young people – but it was kindness, care and compassion that shone out last night from the HNC groups, and I wanted to thank them for it.”
"She was so taken by their comments, so proud to have been acknowledged and even celebrated by, and I quote: ‘the professional dancers who are actually studying it all the time’….My daughter mentioned the kindness your students showed her again and again throughout the evening before bedtime – it obviously stuck with her…. Please pass this on as I hope the girls understand the impact they have on the younger dancers when they see them at shows.”
Cat John, Teacher of Dance comments: “Our talented students shone on the stage, and these types of experiences not only enhance and enrich their experience but help them prepare them for their next steps and help them to develop their confidence and skills. I was delighted to read this feedback from a parent of a younger performer who was not only inspired by their performance, but who has also been positively impacted by how our students have displayed our College values of respect and empathy in all aspects of their behaviour at this show – I am extremely proud of them all!”
