The weekend started out well when Andrew Atkinson won his first tennis match 6 – 4 after a stunning performance. Andrew fought well and showed why he’s ranked number one in Yorkshire, but unfortunately finished fourth overall so he didn’t get to take a medal home.

Andrew said: “It was a great weekend. I feel my performances could have been better, although there were some great players at the event. I feel I could win it next year.

“I would like to thank Alex Potts and Pete Lombard for taking the time out of their weekend to take us to the finals and make it such a great experience.”

Our two swimmers were a huge success, with Matthew Hinchliffe finishing third in the 100m Backstroke. He also spurred the 200m relay medley team on and finished with a magnificent 50m Backstroke to give the team a three metre advantage.

Ryan Flanagan was the swimming star of the weekend, leaving the rest of the pool in his wake by winning the 200 metre individual medley – possibly the hardest event – by a massive nine seconds. Yorkshire finished in third place meaning that both of our swimmers took home a bronze medal.

Matthew and Ryan said: “The team tactics work really well, which helped us gain a bronze medal, and winning the medal topped off a great weekend.”
