Huddersfield New College student Harry Newman made his first team debut in the Leeds Rhinos pre-season friendly game on Sunday 29th January. The Rhinos faced Doncaster RLC at the Keepmoat Stadium, losing out to the home team by just one point. The final score was Doncaster 35 – 34 Leeds Rhinos.

Harry, who is 16 years old and from Holmfirth, currently plays as a centre in the Rhinos’ Under 19s squad alongside studying BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. He has been playing rugby since he was five years old, and previously played for Newsome Panthers. He signed a scholarship with Leeds Rhinos at the age of 14 and eventually signed a contract at the club when he turned 16.

“My current aim is to turn professional by the end of 2017,” said Harry. “I want to make a career out of Rugby League, and take it as far as possible.”
