Huddersfield New College hosted the North of England AOC (Association of Colleges) Women’s Rugby League Tournament on 8th February, 2017.

The College was making its debut in the competition, which involved 8 teams from across the North East and the North West.

The College team made a very successful debut, earning a place in the semi-finals, where they met eventual winners, Cronton College, whose team boasted several England players.

The team put up a great performance, playing some superb rugby league, but unfortunately lost the semi-final 4-1.

The College’s debut success in the tournament was a real testament to the depth of talent in women’s rugby league in Kirklees.

The tournament will be a great springboard for our women’s rugby league team who believe next time they will reach the final.

AoC Sport is the lead organisation for college sport and physical activity nationally, and HNC students compete against students from colleges all over the North.
