The West Yorkshire Police and Fire Services visited HNC this week to deliver presentations to current students. The students learned about the career and recruitment opportunities that are currently available with the services, followed by drop-in queries in the cafeteria.
HNC students who participated in this session found the insight and in-depth information about the careers the Police and Fire Services useful and interesting. Students were also given the chance to speak informally about their concerns and questions.
Tony Sturdy, the College’s Senior Careers and Education Adviser, commented, “It was a great session and an excellent opportunity for HNC students to meet these professionals who do the job on a daily basis. The session was truly effective, with 18 students attending and showing interest in applying for these opportunities.”
Tony continued, “Students who are interested but missed the session can talk to any member of the College’s Careers staff to receive further information.”
The Careers Department holds several of these kinds of activities throughout the college year as part of their “Meet the Professionals” scheme. This allows current students to meet and speak informally to professionals from a variety of different sectors.
