Business students at Huddersfield New College decided to celebrate British Heart Foundation Week by organising a host of activities across the week to raise money for the charity.

One group of Business Studies students sold Valentine’s Day cards, ranging from humorous to romantic. The students collaborated with Hillside Primary School pupils to design and create special hand-made Valentine’s Day cards.

Another group of Business students ran a variety of sporting competitions, including a Crossbar Challenge and a Basketball Shootout.

There was a photo booth available, while another group of Business students sold American style milkshakes, Oreo proving to be the crowd pleaser.

On one day, students were encouraged to participate in carnival games, with old favourites such as hook a duck and Fish Pong proving really popular.

On a different day, students could buy personalised T shirts and customised biscuits!

And on Samosa Day, the home made samosas sadly ran out!

Arfan Barry, a Business student at HNC, commented “From helping to organise these different events, I have learnt a lot of important work related skills, which will be really useful to me after I leave college”

Another Business student, Mahmood Hassan, said “Working on these events has given me an opportunity to gain valuable real life work skills which I hope will help me to stand out in my Personal Statement for a place to study Business at university”

In total, the Business students managed to raise over £900 for the British Heart Foundation.

A heart pumping amount! Well done, everyone!
