On Friday 12th May, Erika Montgomery (Equality and Diversity Manager) and Zoe Shackleton (Assistant Principal) were invited to visit the ‘Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice’ in Huddersfield.  The hospice supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families, both at Russell House in Huddersfield, and via their ‘Hospice at Home’ service.

The Hospice wanted to formally recognise the fundraising efforts of students and staff from Huddersfield New College. Fundraising for the Hospice has taken place throughout the year at a range of events including, International Women’s Day celebrations, National Anti-Bullying Week and the Christmas Fayre.

During the visit, a new glass plaque located in the hospice’s ‘Celebration Wall’ was unveiled.

The plaque carries the inscription ‘Huddersfield New College: A gift for you’.

Erika Montgomery commented that ‘It was a privilege to learn more about the pioneering and inspirational work undertaken by the hospice. We are extremely proud of our students and staff and their collective fundraising efforts.’

The College raises money for a range of local charities and is continuing to support fundraising for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
