Huddersfield New College student Devyn Leask has been selected to represent Zimbabwe at the upcoming 17th FINA World Championships in Budapest.

Devyn, who is currently studying for an Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science at the College, is currently one of the top 2 female swimmers for freestyle in Zimbabwe.

The World Championships start on the 23rd of July and run for an entire week. Devyn will be competing in the 100m and in the 200m Freestyle events.

Devyn was first selected to represent the Zimbabwe National Swimming Team last year.

She recently met with success at the Cana Zone IV Swimming and Water Polo Championships in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, winning 12 medals in the Championships, which helped her country Zimbabwe to achieve first place overall in the competition.

When asked about the honour of representing her country at the World Championships, Devyn replied “It doesn’t feel real! I am still waiting for it to hit home that I will be swimming with the best swimmers in the world! I am really looking forward to representing my country in Budapest.”
